Poda Podi, a recent Tamil movie produced by Padam Kumar and Menu Kumar. The film was directed by Vignesh Shivan. The story was also written by the director Vignesh Shivan. Silambarasan (as Arjun) and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar (as Nisha) are the main stars of the film. The other characters are Shobana (as Veena), Ganesh (as Arjun's uncle), Santhanam & Premji Amaren (in a special appearance in Love Panlaamaa Venaama), Nick Thomas (as Webster) and Samarth Suraj (as Arjun's & Nisha's son). The story is based on the dance competition, which was participated by the Silambarasan and Varalaxmi in Landon dance club. Dharan Kumar has given a beautiful love melodious music to the film. Cinematography is done by Duncan Telford, J. Laxamn and R. Rathnavelu (Love Panlaamaa Venaama). The film was edited by Antony. The location of the film is chosen from London and over its cities. Arjun (Silambarasan) who is living with his uncle (Ganesh) in London. Arjun is an animation artist. One day Arjun meets Nisha (Varalaxmi) in a London pub. She is living with her aunt (Shobana). She is an aspiring dancer who is practicing hard to win in the dance competition. Nisha proposes to Arjun and he agrees her proposal. They decide to marry and live in Landon. Arjun doesn't like Nisha participating in dance competition. It is because he don't like her dance partner Mojo. Nisha doesn't like Arjun's conditions over her. Arjun's uncle gave an idea to stop Nisha's career. Depend on that Arjun made Nisha pregnant. That will get her baby and so her dance participation will be stopped. This was the thought of Arjun. But even after baby born she dint stop her salsa dance practice. One day Arjun beats up Nisha's dance partner Mojo. Nisha left alone so that she couldn't participate in the dance competition. Whether Nisha participated in the dance competition or not, who was her partner if she participate in competition, what was the result. This is the climax of the story. Dharan Kumar's lovely music gives a crucial part of the film to the youngster. It went extremely well part of the film. Songs became great part in the film. One song has been taken in Disney land. The lens man Duncan Telford has captured most of the scenes very well. Vignesh Shivan gave a promising picture in his debut film. But he dint show the family background and parents of both Arjun and Nisha. Not even one scene about them or any flash back shown. There was no back story about Arjun's profession. Not even in single scene they shown about it. But the dance profession of Nisha's life revolves fully. The expectation of grand dance competition finale shows up with Arjun. Then the hard work of Arjun ends up for winning the title. The movie targets to the youth and their love. It was a clean and clear fun film.
