Ambedkar Jayanthi is a festival celebrated on April 14 every year to commemorate the memory of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This day is celebrated as birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar who born on this day in the year 1891. It is a public holiday in many of the Indian states.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Biography

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Central Provinces, British India (now in Madhya Pradesh).

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, political leader, Buddhist activist, philosopher, thinker, anthropologist, historian, orator, prolific writer, economist, scholar, editor, revolutionary and a revivalist for Buddhism in India. He was also the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of Indian Constitution. He was honored with Bharat Ratna in 1990, India's highest civilian award.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was died on December 6, 1956 (aged 65) in Delhi, India. The day 14th April is celebrated all over the country as his birthday (Jayanti) and it is also a public holiday.
