Sensex closes down 136.55 points Today

on reports of Asian peers and trends and amid reports from Government of weak industrial production data closed in the red by around 225 points in the morning after few hours of trading against which the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Index Nifty also fell by 72.70 points Profit booking at higher levels amidst anxiety also led to the sale. Selling pressure was witnessed in the oil and gas, capital goods and realty sectors.
The Indian Rupee in the meanwhile depreciated by 10 paise to Rs 44.52 paise dollar in the foreign exchange market today. The Sensex closed at 20203.34 points less which works to about .67 percent over its previous close. Nifty closed at 6090.90, less than 44.95 points over Monday's close just .73 percent over Monday's close. The intra day high of 6144.95 and low of 6057.95 was seen during the trading hours.

Consumer durables and metal sector witnessed buys. The Sensex closed at 18032.11 points, with a marginal increase of 0.19 percent or 33.7 points over Friday's closing rate at 17998.41 points.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index, Sensex today raised by over 338 points and closed at 18560.05 points or 1.86% over Friday closing, the highest level in two-and-half years. Analysts this due to the better-than-expected jobs data from the US allaying concerns that global economic growth is somewhat faltering. The raise in the index was attributed to a smart rise in metal and banking stocks.
