Many of you might have some problems with your service provider like network coverage problems, tariff plans and also may be attracted towards some other service provider for exciting offers. But it was a problem for you when you change the service provider, the reason being we have to change our mobile number when we change the service provider. Normally no one will be interested to change their favorite mobile number. But without changing the mobile, it was not possible to change the service provider till now.

But at last the day has come - 20th January,2011. Now the mobile customers in India can easily change their service provider without losing their mobile number. The proposed Mobile Number Portability facility in India has crossed several hurdles and technical issues and finally is implemented now. so it is now possible for the mobile customers to retain their existing mobile number even when they move from one service provider to another service provider irrespective of the mobile technology using the Mobile Number Portability service. It is estimated that this would benefit around 700 million CDMA and GSM customers in India.

It is very simple to change the service provider without losing the mobile number. The customer needs to just pay Rs.19 for changing his telecom operator and he will get the new telecom operator within 7 working days. Here is the procedure to change the service provider through Mobile Number Portability facility.

The Indian telecom sector has grown from 33 millions in March,2004 to 750 millions today. Indian telecom sector is the fastest growing sector in the world.

The Mobile Number Portability will definitely force the service providers to offer affordable,innovative and competitive tariff plans to the subscribers to retain them and to attract new customers.
