A research report in University of Purdue puplished that a compound in green tea prevents the growth of cancer cells. There is also an evidiance that green tea reduces total cholesterol levels, and improve the change of good cholesterol (HDL) to bad cholesterol (LDL).

Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, mainly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). epigallocatechin gallate is a type of anti-oxidant, It inhibits the growth of cancer cells, kills cancer cells without any damage to the normal tissue. It is more effective in reducing the LDL cholesterol levels, It prevents the formation of blood clots (thrombosis) also. Green tea prevent tooth decay! It has the ability to destroying the bacteria and prevent food poisoning, it can also destroy bacteria in mouth and stops dental plaque.
