Who is Anna Hazare?


Anna Hazare (Marathi: अण्णा हजारे) is a well known social worker and activist of Maharashtra who is very famous in the entire India for his multiple achievements. He is mostly recognised for his efforts in developing the Ralegan Siddhi village in Maharashtra which he has built up as a model village. In brief, Marathi activist Anna Hazare has integrated village development with the Golden Jubilee celebration of Gandhi's Bharat Chhodo Andolan (Quit India Movement). In fact the Adarsh Gaon Yojna (Model Village Scheme) actually flagged off under the chairmanship of Anna Hazare. He has also worked for watershed development with the bigger goal of reducing overall poverty through sustainable development.

Of late, he succeed in making the Government agree to his point and Anna Hazare broke his fast.
