It is the district headquarters of 23rd district of Assam named North Cachar Hill. Thus famous hill station is placed at a distance of 85 km to the north of Silchar and 345 km from Guwahati. Haflong is a site of natural beauty. It is spreaded all around with beautifull flowers and varirties of fruits. The city looks gigantic with its Azure blue hills and superb green rivers. Haflong Lake

The gigantic lake of the Haflong is flown at the heart of the main hill station. It is one of the largest natural lake of Assam. Tourists can enjoy pleasant activities like boating, Jatinga village is about 9 km from this lake one of the famous tourist spot inside Haflong.


Jatinga is at a glance for mysterious migratory birds, is situated about 20 km to the south of Haflong is a heart-touching sight for tourists. It is famous for being a mysterious spot where thousands of migratory birds commit suicide between August and November every year. Tourist can enjoy the beautiful scenic of sunrise from the Hempeopet peak near Jatinga. It also provides a bird watching centre in Jatinga, with accomodation fascility permitted by the district forestry office of Haflong. Well Buses fascility is provided to Silchar for access this Hill station.


Maibong is famous as the ancient capital of the Dimasa Kachari Kingdom. The beautifull place is located at a distance of 45 km from Haflong. It is the place where you can see the 12th century's creation famous Ramchandi Temple of Kachari Kings. A great tourist attraction which offered by this place is the river Mahur flows through Maibong.

Umrangshu or Umrongso

The biggest Hydel plant under North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), Umrongso is about 112-km from Haflong by road, consists with dams across the Kopili river, a part of the Brahmaputra. There is a hot water spring named Garampani, which has a great history of possessing medicinal properties. Containing an awesome natural beauty this place attracts most of the visitors every year.

How to reach Haflong

Barapani airport, Shillong is the nearest airport to Haflong which is located at a distance of 252 km. and the Guwahati airport is at a distance of 345 km from Haflong.

Only 3 km from the main town a railway station is provided by lower Haflong. Lunding railhead is another railway junction close to the Haflong.
