Kodagu can be reached via road from many major places, as due to its hilly nature, airways and railways are bit difficult, as it has to depend on the neighbouring districts for these two services.

Kodagu attracts thousands of tourists in its season as this is one of the hill stations in southern India, which offers some breathtaking natural sceneries and more over picturesque with plantation and greenish backdrop excellent weather conditions and moreover Kodagu is an historical place to attract many tourists every year. The Kodagu district due to its topographical area is not feasible to have airport, hence for such services it has to depend on its neighbouring districts like Mangalore which is 135 km away which facilitates with Jet Airways connect and another flight service is Kingfisher which also operates from Bangalore, other nearest airports are Calicut, Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Mumbai and from Trivandrum, another major airport nearby is at Bangalore which is around 260 km away from Kodagu.

As said before the land is suitable for air and train services hence even for train services it has to depend on its nearby districts like Mysore which is 146 km away, other railway stations are at Hassan, Mangalore and Tellicheri.

The bus service from other places to Kodagu is very frequent and abundant. Many buses are available from Mysore, Mangalore, Bangalore and Hassan.
