KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI – 4
The KBC 4, the MEGA SHOW is back on the screen. The program will be aired in October 2010. I am just posting some of the incidents which we had observed in earlier shows of KBC in 1, 2 and 3. Since this is just a recollection of the show and as part of knowledge sharing exercise for late comers to the serial, feedback in the form of constructive comments are welcome. And here it goes the new KBC 4. Read more about how to participate in KBC 4 and how to play kaun banega crorepati 4 game show.
The following article is based on the earlier versions of the Show and for current KBC4 interested ones are advised to KBC site. Some glimpses of the earlier shows.
KBC is a mega show offering big money to successful participants in the quiz show for correctly answering the questions, to which multiple answers have been provided and one has to pick up the right answer. The prize money at the top that is if you answer all the 15 questions was fixed at Rs 1 crore. The main emphasis of the show is suspense, which goes on increasing, after every successive question, speed of the show being pushed to the next place in order of importance. While suspense is mostly "unwelcome" to majority of the audience, the main thrust of the show is based on that. So let us go step by step to the suspense.
The show KBC 4 will be hosted by Amitabh Bachhan, the legend of Indian cinema. The contestants are given the questions with 4 probable answers to decide if at all the contestant wishes to answer first. In earlier shows many of the participants returned back to their seats with whatever they earned in the first few questions.
The show starts with the preliminary round known as "Fastest Finger First" where all the participants, may be 50 I do not remember the exact number. All are given a question and 4 probable answers from the host. The contestant who answers this in the fastest possible time sits in the chair, which is to be known as "Hot Seat" and play to win the crorepati represented by 15 questions.
Once in the hot seat, the contestant has to face the host After preliminary introduction, including accompanying relative or friend, sometimes it could be "Patni" "Patidev" or "Maa" , to make the show more lively, questions are asked with multiple choice of four answers.
On answering the question corretly and repeating again and again he has crossed the bridge on way to 15 questions = "Par Kar liya" and the money spinning break for advertisements – the guest is taken to the next question.
The point for appreciation is the manner in which the contestant in the hot seat is made to sit relaxingly without any tension but as I said earlier every minute is suspense ridden.
Enough time is afforded to the contestant to answer the question. After few questions, I remember it as five, the host will add few more words to make the show interesting and not so boring, such as "Is this your final answer" . From this time, as the prize money has reached decently large sums, doubling up with each successive answer.
There were 3 lifelines available available to a participant. One is 50:50, another is Ask the Audience and third one is Phone a Friend. Each lifeline could be used only once, As I said earlier, throughout the show, the main thrust is on suspended pauses.
