Vaikuntha Perumal Temple, Kanchipuram

PerumalThe Vaikunda perumal Temple is suited at Kanchipuram and it was built by the Pallava King Nadivarman II in 7th century. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu; here he is called as "Paramabadha Nathar" and Goddess of this temple is Sridevi and Boodevi Thayar. The most interesting in this temple is its pillars; the pillars of this temple are carved like lion. The walls of this temple also carved like the ware scenes between Pallavas and Chalukyas and history of the temple also carved in walls of this temple. Vaikunda perumal Temple is one of the hundred and eight Divya Desams. The Vimanam of this temple has three tires. Lord Vishnu gives darshan in the first tire in sitting posture and in second tire he is with sridevi and Boodevi in Anantha sayanam this posture is called Sri Ranganathar, in third tire Lord Vishnu is in standing posture. This excellent Vimanam is really gift to our eyes. The temple tank is called Garuda pushkarni.

Ekambareshwarar Temple, Kanchipuram

EkambareshwararEkambareshwarar Temple is located in Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu. This is one of Panchabhoota Stalam represents Earth (Nilam). Ekambreshwarar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva; here he is called as Ekambaranathar or Ekambareshwarar. As per Legend Once Goddess Parvathi was doing penance, to test her devotion Lord Shiva sent fire on her. Parvathi prayed her brother Vishnu to stop fire, Vishnu took moon from Lord Shiva's head and show it against fire at once fire cooled as well as parvathi. Again Lord shiva sent Ganga to disturb Parvathi's penance, this time parvathi prayed to ganga to stop disturbing her. Ganga is sister of Parvathi so she agreed to her prayer. At last Parvathi made a Shiva Lingam by SAND, and get united with Lord Shiva as Arthanareshwarar Avatar. Kanchi Puranam, Kanda Puranam, Periya Puranam are some tamil poems has some poems about Ekambareshwarar.

Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram

KailasanatharKailasanathar temple was built by Pallavas in 8th Century. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva; here he is called as Kailasanathar . As per Legend there are three demons of Lord Shiva named Tharakatchan, Kamalatchan and Vidyamali. They were disturbing Devas to much but nobody can destroy them including Lord Vishnu. At last Lord Vishnu took Buddha avadar and along with Narathar he changed those three devotes' mind in to non-believers of Lord Shiva. Then only Lord Vishnu can destroy them. But Lord Vishnu and Narathar prayed Lord Shiva to get rid from their sin. They built Lord Shiva's sculpture in kanchipuram and prayed, Lord Shiva appeared in front of them and said that "They have to take lot of birth to get rid from their sin". There is a small passage in Kailasanathar temple with two entrance called Janana Vasal and Maran Vasal . Lord Shiva said to Lord Vishnu and Narathar to enter in to Janana vassal and exit from Maran Vasal many times to get rid of their sin, this is like birth and death. Even today there is believe that "who passes through these entrances will get recover from their sin".

Kamakshi Amman Temple, Kanchipuram

KamakshiKamakshi Amman Temple is located at kanchipuram, Tamilnadu and it was built by Pallavas in 14th Century. This temple is one the hundred and eight Divya Desams. Kamakshi amman temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi, one of the incarnations of Goddess Parvathi. As per Legend, Goddess Kamakshi built Lord shiva by sand and prayed to marry him. After a long pray Lord Shiva appeared and married Kamakshi. The place where Goddess resides is called Gayathiri Mandabam. The Goddess lives in this temple in three forms called Kamakshi, Sri Bilahasam and Sri chakram. This temple has Golden Gopuram in the middle. Sri Kamatshi Amman is in sitting posture in this temple, this posture is called Padmasanam.

Sri Kumara Kottam Temple, Kanchipuram

KumarkottamSri Kumara kottam temple is located in Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu and this temple is dedicated to Lord Subramaniyar or Muruga. As per Legend, Once Lord muruga imprisoned the creator Lord Brahma for not knowing the meaning of Pranava Manthra and he started doing creation duties. So Lord Muruga is in the form of Creator in Kumara kottam. There is some reference in Thirupugazh tamil poem which is written by Arunagirinathar. There is a separate sanathi for Lord Vishnu in this temple.
