BVSN Murthy Centre is a unit of Public Health Centre in West Mambalam which provides vocational training for mentally challenged people.

BVSN Murthy Centre is a unit of Public Health Centre at West Mambalam which provides vocational skill-oriented training to mentally challenged people above 18 years of age. The centre organizes programmes to help the challenged persons to develop their physical and mental abilities which will help them to lead an independent life.

The training offered at this centre will help the challenged people to develop a sense of self-esteem and self satisfaction and gain a social acceptance. The Centre has implemented individualized education programmes after analyzing the requirements of each person.

Children are given training according to their nature, capabilities and considering the severity of their disability. Individual attention is given to every child to improve its functional and academic skills .

Boys and girls are trained separately and in different fields of action. Girls are trained in making different kinds of food items like pickles, sambar powder etc, agarbathies and also given training in the basics of cooking. Boys are trained to make bags, candles etc and the sales of the items made by these children also divided among the children.

The early intervention programmed focuses on sensory motor training and sensory stimulation and pre-academic skills. The centre provides state-of-art equipments for physical exercises.

Besides in the centre they regularly make the children chant mantras and conduct classical musical lessons. This is aimed at developing their memory retention
Capabilities, concentration and sense of attention which helps them acquire academic skills. The centre make the children appear for class 3, 5 and 8 examinations through National Open School, New Delhi.

Extra curricular activities like sports, music etc are also conducted with a view to to improve the hidden talents and creative skills of the children. These activities will contribute to a great extent in developing these special children physically and psychologically and it helps them to interact with people. The centre has a lot of indoor and outdoor recreational equipments for this purpose. Recreational activities are selected by the staff of the centre according to the aptitude of each child.

The Centre appeals that more people should come forward to buy the products made by the special children and help them .
