NIMCET 2013 is a National Level Entrance Test for admission into Master of Computer Applications programme (MCA) offered by NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirapalli and Warangal for the year 2013-14. Admission into MCA programme in the participating NITs is based only on NIMCET 2013 rank.

NIT MCA Common Entrance Test 2013 eligibility criteria

Students who secure 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC, ST category) in 12th (10+2)level or equivalent, with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either 10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels and have Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University with at least one of the following as a chosen subject of study: Mathematics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Elementary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET 2013.

How to apply for NIMCET 2013

NIMCET 2013 online registration process: Candidates should apply for NIMCET 2013 through 'Online' only. Please follow instructions strictly as given in the website up to 13 April, 2013 only.

After successful filling of online form, electronically submitted pages of application will be generated for each and every candidate bearing his/her entire information as filled by him/her and a unique application number will be generated which candidate can use in future correspondence. Take hard-copy of electronically submitted online application on A4 size paper. Hard copy of the electronically submitted application form with DD and other enclosures (Mark sheets of SSC or 10th Class or equivalent, 12th Class or equivalent and qualifying Degree/Category Certificate if applicable/ Persons with Disabilities Certificate issued by Competent authority if applicable) should reach -"The Secretary, NIMCET-2012, National Institute of Technology, Warangal – 506 004, Andhra Pradesh" by Speed Post/Registered Post /by hand on or before 16th April, 2013. The application form can also be submitted in the office of NIMCET-2012 at NIT, Warangal by hand on all working days between 10.00AM and 05.00 PM.

NIMCET 2013 application fee: The processing Fee for NIMCET-2013 test and counselling for admission to the MCA programme is Rs.1600 /- for OPEN/OBC category and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST category candidates. Demand Draft must be drawn in favor of "NIMCET-2013", payable to any bank as mentioned in notification. Candidates are required to write their name, address and Mobile/Phone Number and NIMCET-2013 Application Number generated, on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.

NIMCET 2013 entrance test pattern and syllabus

NIMCET 2013 entrance test pattern: The duration of NIMCET 2013 examination will be of two (2) hours and question paper will consist of 120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question. The examination is conducted in Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions) and General English (20 questions). Each correctly answered question will carry four (4) marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to negative one mark.

• Closing Date of Online Login Creation: 13 April 2013
• Last date for online submission of application: 13 April 2013
• Last date for receipt of printout of electronically filled application form along with requisite DD by speed post/Registered post/ by hand: 16 April 2013
• NIMCET 2013 examination schedule: 26 May 2013, Sunday from 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon (Reporting time 9.15 A.M.)
• Candidates can obtain their admit card for NIMCET 2013 from the official website from 7th May, 2013 to 26 May 2013

Syllabus for NIMCET 2013 entrance test

1. Mathematics (50 questions): Set Theory (Concepts of sets – Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations). Probability and Statistics (Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions), Algebra (Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear / quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices), Coordinate Geometry (Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola), Calculus (Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima and minima, Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas), Vectors (Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics), Trigonometry (Simple identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations).

2. Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (40 Questions): The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

3. Computer Awareness (10 questions): Computer Basics (Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices), Data Representation ( Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two's complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams).

4. General English (20 questions): There will be questions on the following topics: Comprehension, Vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), Word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words and phrases, technical writing
