Dharamshala is around 500 Kms from Delhi. Take GT Karnal road from Delhi. It is a smooth highway with maximum permissible speed limit of 90 Kms per hour. Though you would be tempted to drive at a much higher speed on this highway because it is quite broad and free from hurdles. There used to be a great traffic Chaos at Panipat which has now been taken care by the new flyover there.
Haveli is the first point where you can relax and have fun on the midway near Karnal. This is beauitfully designed restaurant cum resort with many fun activities. The restaurant will give you a wonderful feeling of new age Dhaba. food is also good and refreshing here.
After four hours of drive you will reach the city beautiful Chandigarh. This city is very well planned with wonderful roads. The drive inside the city is enjoyable. Beware of the speed limits and traffic rules on Chandigarh roads.
After crossing Chandigarh enjoy the drive towards Nangal. On the way there are many villages and small towns like Roopnagar, the White city Anandpur Sahib. The view itself is mesmerising on both sides of the highway which is very well maintained. You will not mind shelling out few bucks after every 100 kms or so for toll.
You can also have a look at the Nangal Dam on the way. few Kms from nangal you will enter Himachal pradesh at Mehatpur border. After having snacks or tea at Una get ready for the breathtaking journey of the hills. The entire look will change when you cross Una and the feel is altogether different now.
Una, Amb, Mubarakpur, Bharmain and then Chintpurni mata. It is a famous pilgrim in Himachal where people come to seek blessings of the Godess from all over India. Visit the temple, give rest to your vehicle and youself, have some snacks and start your journey again.
After few Kms of drive via Dhaliara, dehara you will reach another famous destination, Maa jwalaji. You can also seek blessings here and proceed with yor journey further. After one hour of drive amidst lush green pine trees, forests you will reach Kangra. Just before reaching Kangra do not forget to take a dip into the riveretts flowing alongside the road.
Kangra is just 18 kms from Dharamshala. There are many good hotels in dharamshala. The tarrif ranges between Rs 500 and 5000. Enjoy your evening at Dharamshala. Take a walk to the markets to feel the local flavour.
Next day you can plan to Mcleodganj, Bhagsunag and other tourist attractions like Naddi, Talnu and Dal Lake.
Start early in the morning from Delhi, enjoy the journey to Dharamshala. It would be a great experience.
