Bara Bhangal , Artist's Dreamland

On the lap of the mighty Dhauladhar at altitudes varying from 2100 to 5932 metres, Bara Bhangal, a part of Kangra district ,presents a panoramic view of the inner Himalyas. Amidst quiet and picturesque surroundings of rich and luxuriant forests replete with deodar , pine , fir trees and alpine flower s,the Ravi originates and later flow through Chamba district .

Bara Bhangal in a trekker's paradise accessible from Jogindernagar in Mandi district via Broat and from Bharmour in Chamba district via Manimahesh. The main trekking itineraries are Bara Bhangal to Naygaon via Manimahesh lake (4170meters )from Bara Bhangal to Manali, from Bara Bhangal to Solang valley (Kullu distrct ) via Taintika pass(4996m) and from Bara Bhangal to Barot via Gairu Jot.

Soon after the first snowfall, Bara Bhangal puts on a white mantle and the slopes are covered with a thick layer of snow. At that height with the cold wind, snow and looming mountain peaks , the trekker is left awestruck. The narrow trekking paths in the Bara Bhangal terrain zigzag up the cliffs and the mountain sides.

The Ravi flows like a silvery streak flowing out of a crucible . There are deep crevasses in the glacier and ice pinnacles project like the door of fort studded with nails"

From the tourism point of view, Bara Bhangal is rich in glens, meadows, fascinating waterfalls, streams and springs. The scenic landscapes offer vast scope for all kind of adventurous activities. There is unparalleled potential to prop u[ tourism with all attractions.

The state government was so far failed to provide adequate facilities to trekking expedition in this wild untamed region.
