Bikes Ban in VTU Campus


Visvesvaraya Technical University had made a bold decision of banning bikes in the campus

Visvesvaraya Technical University has come out with new decision where they will be ban the bikes in the campus. The student attending college need to find a different mode of transport.

The new VC for the VTU has come out with decision who has recently taken up the job Mr. H. Maheshappa. The decision will taken after the meet with all colleges and respective heads. The logic between the ban of bikes inside the campus and private vehicle is bring down the traffic congestion, pollution and showing off of bikes in the campus.

The main reason a student can think of is alteration done in bikes with silencers and showing off the bike on the colllege campus with different stunts. This rule will not affect girls to that extent as it may affect boys.

Visvesvaraya Technical University has about 174 colleges and 2 lakh students. Students are surprized with the decision of the VTU Vice Chancellor, and are ready to accept if the rule is also implemented on their Lecturers, Professors and also Vice Chancellor of the college.

Some of the college are supporting this move and are ready to provide adequate transport for the student be it private or BMTC with increasing the number of buses in the college.

After all the comments made by students related to the Bikes Ban on College Campus by VTU.

Vice chancellor H. Maheshappa has set an example by travelling in bus immediate after getting the word out. He traveled by Bus from Route no 2 to Ashok Pillar for one of the VTU region office.

However, Maheshappa has mentioned that he has no issue in travelling in Bus everyday, however, he will make use of his car only when there are important meetings.

He mentioned this decision will made only after taking student opinion and feedback.
