Be Good To Animals This Diwali

Diwali is a festival celebrated by us with joy and enthusiasm. But what we tend to forget is the harm that we cause to the animals living on streets when we don't take proper precautions.

Be Good To Animals This Diwali

Diwali is one festival that the animals, especially stray dogs are really scared of. This is one time when they wish to stay away from the noise, the fireworks and the crackers. All you find them during this period is hidden either below a vehicle or somewhere in corners of abandoned shades.

People celebrate Diwali with a lot of enthusiasm and joy. More and more crackers and lights are lit up to celebrate this festival. There is lot of noise, lights and fire along with smoke and dust everywhere. In a context to happiness what we actually forget to take notice is the helplessness of these animals who live roadside. These animals who otherwise try and survive accommodating themselves with the human population, get very scared with the sight of humans lighting up crackers and making sounds during these days. Animals almost panic with the loud noise that the crackers cause along with the fire and smoke that is emitted from them.

When it comes to our pets, all we do is sit with them, trying to console them and making them let out their fear. Animals are said to be in large comfort when they are accompanied by humans. But what about these Street side animals that don't have anyone actually to help them out. In fact there are many such people who don't even care for these animals. On the contrary, few of them enjoy scaring these animals. Wonder what fun or excitement one can get by scaring or causing harm to these poor creatures. There are many cases when people burst firecrackers or tie them up to the animals tail for the sake of fun. Diwali is a time when many cases are reported for animals get harmed or burned in a major way.

Urge to Animal Lovers

All one can do is urge to the animal lovers to take care of these strays who need them in such time of distress. There are many people in this world who care for these animals. Many people feed them and allow them to stay in their building compound. So what one can do is actually help these distressed animals during Diwali by feeding them little water or by allowing these animals to stay in their housing compounds or anywhere they feel safe.

Diwali is a season or a festival that we enjoy and have loads of fun. But we shouldn't forget the duty that we have towards humanity. Let everyone enjoy this Laxmipujan Diwali 2010, even these animals.
