The Ajanta and Ellora Caves
The Ajanta and Ellora Caves in Aurangabad district form part of the proud cultural heritage of India. The creation of the Ajanta Caves and the world famous wall paintings there date back to the period from 200 B.C to 800 A.D.
The famous wall paintings are known as Frescoes.
The Ajanta Caves were hidden for naerly ten centuries. they were discovered accidentally in 1819 in the thick undergrowth. When excavated, 29 caves were found in good condition.
The caves were hewn by just hammer and chisel from a single rock. the wall-paintings show men and women wearing different garments. The people in the pictures are seen in a variety of gestures and poses. In every cave there is an inner temple in which you will find a huge stone sclupture of Lord Buddha.
These caves of Ajanta and Ellora are very beautiful. It is very interesting to visit those caves. Many of the people from India and outside of India visit there. Many of Philosopher are also interested to visit that place.
