A famous lake to visit. It is pride of Kolhapur city. Always full of tourists. Very beautiful lake.

Rankala Lake

It is a very famous lake situated in Kolhapur. It built in the period of The Maharaja of Kolhapur Rajrshi Shri Shahu Maharaj. So it is the single lake in Maharashtra which developed by man. It is a famous picnic point for the people of Kolhapur and nearby Kolhapur. The people of Kolhapur spend time by visiting Rankala with their families.

Few years ago, the Park(Padpath Udyan) was developed by Municiple Corporation. It is very big park, nice place for childrens for picnic. Children can play games like, see-saw, hide and seek etc. People can also enjoy lakeside walk with happiness. People come to see the lake with their friends and share their happiness and sorrows. They can also walk through the side called as chowpati. The lake is surrounded by the green trees, looking at the Rankala lake and green trees feels very peaceful.

The Rakala lake is near from the famous temple of Lord Mahalaxmi. Approximately 1 km from the temple. There are various temples situated at the banks of Rankala lake.

Rankala is very famous for chowpati. Chowpati consists of varios shops selling Bhel-puri, Chat, Wada-pav, Pani-puri etc. To visit Rankala lake is a Beautiful experience, full of enjoyment and happiness.

One of the major attraction situated at the banks of Rankala is Shalini palace, it is a palace of Shri Shahu Maharaj. This palace is very beautiful and iteresting to visit, it is very big. Rankala lake consist of huge amount of water, which looks blue from the banks of Rakala. There is also boating facility to enjoy with friends and families. There are many other places to visit like, Shalini palace, New Palace, Padmaraje Garden, Mahalaxmi Temple, Shivaji Peth, Bramheshwar Bag etc.

It is very good experience to visit Rankala. Feels pleasent while walking around Rankala.

Rankala is best and beautiful lake in Kolhapur which is located in the city. It is really pride of the Kolhapur. But now days in not well maintained.
