The construction of the Legislatvie Assembly Chennai, Tamil Nadu tender was grabbed by GMP, a German based Partnering construction company, which now constructs the building for Legislative assembly, Chennai, Tamilnadu. GMP is the united version of Meinhard von Ferkan and Volkwin Marg, who have erected all major buildings in Berlin, Germany and Russia and China. The GMP company that builds the assembly and aims at bulbing the Tamilnadu Secretariat based on the culture and tradition of Tamil Nadu, says one of the officials of GMP. The contract was signed between the Govt. of Tamil Nadu and GMP, in association with the PWD of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Goemetrical structure of the Secretariat, Chennai is obtained from the traditional architects in Tamil Nadu. The Secretariat is built like a chakra with 36 isoceles triangles in its base which will be turned into offices for the Govt. officials including the Office of the Speaker. There is also a car parking lot, that can accommodate more than 500 cars, which is developed as a multi-storyed building, to the left of the complex. There are totally 4 dooms, where the Offices of the officials, Assembly, Conventional hall and the Legislative Assembly chamber are placed. The first proposed 5 dooms are now changed into 4 and instead of the 5th doom, a 20 floor complex is about to rise up. With the completion of this 20 floor building, the Secretariat, Chennai will be the tallest building in Chennai City, Tamil Nadu. The building is proposed to accommodate all the Govt. offices and the officials within the complex. Special entrance for the public is provided to the complex from the car parking lot. The secretariat was inaugurated bby the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh in presence of Kalaignar Karunanidhi, the CM of Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister of Karnataka and other officials of the Government.
