This group 2 exam is conducted for the recruitment of several posts in Tamil Nadu Registration Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Municipal Commissioner Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Service, Tamil Nadu General Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Agricultural Marketing Subordinate Service etc. This recruitment includes vacancies for 3,687 posts. Previously this exam was conducted on August 12. Question paper for this exam was leaked before the exam and so the re-exam was conducted.

Totally 6.5 lakh candidates applied for the TNPSC group 2 exam. Among them only 60% took the retest. Exam were conducted in 114 centers. In Chennai alone 73,000 candidates written re-exam. In Madurai 39,100 candidates applied for the exam and only 12,900 candidates attended the exam. This seems more than half of the candidates bunked the exams.
