Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee – the lone fighter in battle field
It seems that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is totally isolated from his cabinet colleagues and party.
Our Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is really in a helpless condition. Although not declared officially but there is a rumor that he has expressed his desire not to contest in the next election. Similar statements were delivered by some of the heavy weight leaders of Left Front previously.
In last 34 years, such crisis was never seen. People have rejected Left Front, specially the big brother of Left Front, CPI (M). This trend is seen from 2009 Lok Sabha Election and up to the last Municipality election no change is observed. Without any miracle it is almost impossible for Left Front to win Bidhan Sabha Election 2011.
After 2001 Vidhan Sabha Election , West Bengal people had a hope that under the leadership of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee situation would change. After a long time West Bengal got a Chief Minister with clean image. His down to the earth image, no record of corruption against his name (till today nobody can challenge his clean image so far as corruption is concerned) forced people to dream about a new West Bengal.
When he took the charge, apart from education, health etc. industrial growth of West Bengal was very low, on the contrary lock out, strike paralyzed the running industries. He had a dream to compete with Maharastra, Gujarat, and Bangalore in industrialization. To fulfill the dream he has done lot of mistakes. Without proper planning and keeping others in dark (Even other alliance party ministers of Left Front), he moved ahead with few of his close ministers. CPI (M) polit buro was aware of every step and they had approved it at that time. After Singur, Nandigram his slogan for industrialization stopped and from that time situation started changing rapidly. The ministers who were with Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee during the industrialization campaign started blaming him. In every meeting Prakas Karat blames that wrong policies of State government is responsible for recent failure in recent elections. Now he is the target of opposition parties as well as his party leaders and alliance party leaders are not in a mood to spare him.
Whatever mistakes CPI (M) and Left Front has done, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is not alone to be blamed. He tried to do something, definitely his procedure were wrong. But what others were doing, specially the alliance parties of Left Front? During last 5 years, they are totally in static condition. No movement, either in positive or negative direction. They are simply issuing statements against Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in regular intervals to prove their existence.
History will never forgive Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for Singur and Nandigram. Still in our corrupted society we need clean politicians in assembly. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee always against strike, even the strike of his own party. He has given open statement against strike called by his own party. He believes that industrialists should be allowed to operate smoothly to increase production and productivity. He believes too much interference of trade union is not good for industrial growth. He may not be chief minister again after election, may be he will be in the area specified for opposition; still West Bengal assembly needs him.
