Mamata Banerjee and Namaz

India has witnessed many Hindu – Muslim riots. Still in some parts of India, the relation between these two communities is not very cordial. In our West Bengal, Hindu - Muslim relationship is far better than many other states in India. Here Muslims participate in Hindu festivals like Durga puja, Saraswati puja and Hindus participate in Id. This is a good gesture. India is a secular country, still there is a gap between these two communities. Many times we have seen that Muslim families seeking house in rent in Muslim pockets in a city or town. The reason is very clear. Hindu landlords often reject Muslim tenants. Again many Hindu tenants don't approach Muslim land lords. But this is not the situation between Hindu – Sikh or Hindu-Christian. Different drives are being taken to minimize the gap between Hindu and Muslim. If political leaders move forward to do the job, their actions are put under scanner. Here also the reason is very clear, all the political parties have utilized this Muslim community as vote bank.

Trinamool Chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee now a day attends all Muslim festivals. Today also she offered Namaz. Whether this gesture is to bridge the gap between the two communities or simply for political gain is a matter of debate. Muslim vote bank is now not with CPI(M), so Trinamool Congress won't give up any chance to get the full advantage. This is very normal in Indian politics. In many states of India, not in Bengal still voters vote for the candidate of their own caste. This is not desirable but it happens.

A recent railway advertisement has created an uproar. In this advertisement, the picture shows Mamata Banerjee is seen offering Namaz.

Co existence of all religion people in India is very much needed specially when India is a target of different terrorists. At the same time religion and politics should not be mixed up but unfortunately all political parties are doing so.
