Dum Dum - High voltage assembly constituency in West Bengal Bidhan Sabha Election 2011

Election campaign of Dum Dum assembly constituency is a hot news presently. Bratya Basu is contesting against state minister and CPI (M) leader Gautam Deb from this assembly constituency in West Bengal Bidhan Sabha Election 2011.

Gautam Deb of CPI (M) is a seasoned politician and this time he is contesting from Dum Dum assembly constituency, once considered as left fort. His main rival in this election is professor and theatre personality Bratya Basu from Trinamool Congress. Bratya Basu is a new comer in politics. Both Bratya Basu and Gautam Deb are campaigning in their constituency with full enthusiasm. Both are criticizing each other and the verbal dual is expected to reach the peak as Bidhan Sabha Election 2011 is coming nearer. Dum Dum assembly constituency has drawn the attention Bengal public.

Gautam Deb is a senior politician and in this Bidhan Sabha Election 2011, he is leading the left front from the front line. Bratya Basu is now in the Trinamool camp and a great admirer of Mamata Banerjee. Bratya Basu is among the 'pro-change intellectuals' who reacted strongly after Singur and Nandigram.

Since 1977, excepting 2001 assembly election CPI (M) has won this assembly seat in all Bidhan Sabha Elections. This time we have to wait upto 13 May to know the result.
