Wriddhiman Saha from Siliguri is the new cricket star after Sourav Ganguli. Now-a-days it is possible that cricketers are coming from small cities as well as towns. He is a right-handed batsman and specialist wicket-keeper. He represented India, represents Bengal, and now a player in IPL for Chennai Super Kings. His growth in cricket started from bottom level. He played Under-19, Under-22 before coming into first class cricket. He got the chance to play for Ranji team of Bengal at the time of disputed ICL, when Deep Dasgupta joined Indian Cricket League. After that he never turned back. In his debut match in Ranji Trophy he scored a hundred. He is the 15th Bengal player to score century in debut Ranji trophy. He first came into the limelight after first IPL when he joined for Kolkata Knight Riders. He is taken by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 4 at the base price of $ 100,000.
On 28th January 2010, he joined in the Indian Cricket Test squad as reserved wicket-keeper for home series with South Africa. He got the chance to play due to injury of V.V.S. Lakshman. In his first inning he made a duck, but in second inning he played a very nice 36. In these recent years he has proved his talent, and it is clear that his batting as well as wicket-keeping is not a fluke.
