Private Engineering Colleges in West Bengal are under scanner of WBUT

Large numbers of private Engineering colleges are there in out West Bengal. State Government encouraged such colleges to meet the growing demand of Engineers, specially in Information Technology sector. From the beginning the academic infrastructure of most of the colleges are under question mark. In most of the private Engineering colleges WBUT has noticed an interesting matter about the results. Success rate in this private Engineering Colleges are more than that of even Kharagpur IIT, Jadavpur University and Bengal Engineering College. All of us know that the cream of the students study in those above institutes.

West Bengal University of Technology has taken this very seriously. There are complaints that students in many private Engineering Colleges use unfair means in examination. Till now only one official from WBUT is sent per private Engineering College during examination. It has been decided that from now the number of officials may be 5 to 7.

Presently IT sectors are passing through boom period. Market is pulling students. Almost all students from private Engineering Colleges are getting appointment letters from company before passing. Most of the private Engineering college owners are treating their college as simple business. They want to see more marks against their students name to ensure job from campus interview. This unfair act expands their business where the companies are getting professionals with lower quality. Government has to take strict action against those private Engineering Colleges to produce technocrats, not half Engineers.
