Those who stay away from their homes also send wishes through sms, e-mails to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
Shopkeepers, and Traders perform the "Halkatha" ceremony on this day that welcomes the advent of Bengali New Year. All shops are cleaned and are decorated with lights, flowers. Traders also welcome their customers on this day with sweets and snacks packets.
