Traffic situation of Jessore Road
In the past few months traffic through jessore road has felt the pain and suffering of frequent and almost continuous traffic jams winding on spreading kilometers on both sides of nagerbazar. Problems are worse on the opposite side of the airport, mostly between Nagerbazar and Laketown/DumDum Park. The recent construction work of the new proposed flyover has been going on for some months now and has occupied almost half the road's width in the centre. Equipments and construction vehicles parked here and there in the streets and random hawkers and stalls in the footpath as well as street sides has made it unbearable. For 1 kilometer or so only 1 lane is open for vehicles and cars heading both sides are allowed to pass in specific intervals. Still there is no traffic personnel present in the scenario and all the commotion and system is at mercy of some local volunteers who are seldom seen on such sites.
Pedestrians are also suffering as footpaths are more conjested than ever with all the stalls and shops have occupied the footpath and people have to risk their lives by walking on the narrow section of the road which is also the path for cars coming from both sides. This area ahs now become potentially accident prone in nature and also if someone has some urgent business then this route is not advisable. If your destination lies through this road you better beware and plan on taking a different route to bypass this massacre of traffic so that you can save your valuable time and also be saved from losing your temper.Alternate routes for Jessore Road
Alternate route to go to airport
If tou're planning on taking Jessore road to reach airport from anywhere after Nagerbazar please reconsider your decision and take VIP road instead. If you are going to go by car then use the connectors between Jessore Road and VIP Road such as Laketown, Bangur, Satgachi, Gorakshabasi etc..
Alternate route to go to DumDum Station
If you want to go to dumdum station from airport side you can use the road from Airport gate no 1 to R.N. Guha road in Dumdum road directly. This will save you some sirious hazards. If you feel ignorant about this route ask anyone around and they will show you the route.
If you want to go to dumdum station from shyambazar side use B.T. Road instead of Nagerbazar which will save you from traffic jams of both Jessore Road and Dumdum road. There is also a Jessore Road and B.T. Road connector,Pikepara.
Alternate route to go to Laketown or Shyambazar
If you're coming from Dumdum station side and wish to go to shyambazar side avoiding Nagerbazar and Jessore Road use Chiriamore-B.T. Road route.
If you are coming from airport side and planning to bypass Nagerbazar massacre on your way to Shyambazar side use VIP Road, you might stop at some signals around Keshtopur but believe me it will be nothing close to the suffering in the mentioned area at the moment.
