NAME: Gostha Behari Pal

Date of Birth: August 20, 1896

He was an Indian professional footballer, born in Bhojeswar, Faridpore, Bangladesh. He moved to Kolkata when he was child. He started his footballer career for Kumartuli A.C. at the age 11. He joined to Mohun Bagan, age 16. He became captain of Mohun Bagan football team in 1921 and remained for 5 years. He was appointed as captain of the Indian national football team in 1924. He was known as "Great Wall of China" and respected a lot in our country. He retired in 1935.

He was the first football player honoured as Padma Shri in 1962. A statue is there in Gostho Pal Sarani, Kolkata.

Mohun Bagan club is having an archive of him inside the premises.

He passed away on 8th April, 1976.
