About Rajbari of Cooch Behar

Rajbari is one of the best places to visit in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. It is situated at a distance about 10 Km from Cooch Behar district. This palace is built in 1887 by Koch king Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. Raised on a base of 1.5 metres in height, this double storied brick building covers an area of 4768 square metres. It extends 120 metres from north to south and 90 metres from east to west. Certain rooms deserve special attention for their beautiful paintings in the ceiling as well as in the interior wall surface.The Palace are now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. Total area is 51,309 square feet. The Cooch Behar palace was used for dwelling of the first family of Cooch Behar.The palace main attraction is such as: Durbar Hall, Dining Hall, Billiard hall, Dressing Room, Bed Room, Drawing Room, Library, Toshakhana, Ladies Gallery and Vestibules.

Madan Mohan Bari of Cooch Behar

Madan Mohan Bari is situated at a distance about 8 Km from Cooch Behar district.This temple was constructed in 1885 to 1889 by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. The deities include Lord Madan Mohan, Ma Kali, Ma Tara and Ma Bhavani. On the occasion of Rush Purnima the traditional Rush Yatra along with Rush Mela,One of the biggest festivals of North Bengal. Rash Purnima is one of the biggest festivals of North Bengal.

Baneswar Temple of Cooch Behar

Baneswar Temple is situated at a distance about 10 Km from Cooch Behar district. The temple has a 'Shivalinga' 10 feet below the plinth level. At the end of the day tourists can enjoy this calm and quiet place coupled with scenic beauty.This Temple is also a popular tourist spot in Cooch Behar. There is a big pond within the temple campus having a large number of tortoises. Some of the tortoises are very old and big in size.

Kamteswari Temple is situated at a distance about 8 Km from Cooch Behar district. The original temple is now destroyed. The present temple was been established by Maharaja Pran Narayan in 1665. large number of festivals are observed here of which the Batha Festival of Debi in the month of Magh is worth mentioning.
