Biography of Raja Ram Mohan Roy


The great social reformers Raja Ram Mohan Roy was born on August 14, 1774 in a rich Begali family of Murshidabad, West Bengal. Ram Mohan Roy was known as the maker of modern India. He was also famous for the former of Brahmo Samaj in 1828. He was the legend with againsting caste restrictions. Ramakanta Roy and Tarini Devi are his parent. He was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. As an English concern Ram mohan Roy had maintained the zamindari system during 1805 to 1814. Raja Ram Mohan Roy , the great personality eas also a scholar in Arabian, Persian, Sanskrit and English. After getting scholar he had gone to Kashi, Banaras for gaining knowledge in Vedas and Upanishads. He played a vital role againsting child marriage in the society. He was rewarded with the title 'Raja' by Mughal Emperor. He was the founder of Atmiya Sabha in 1815. He was the writter of a Persian book named 'Gift of Monotheists'. He was a strong believer in Universal brotherhood.

Ram Mohan Roy gave emphasis on English language in the year of 22 and also founded an English education school in 1822. Not only in English he has also looked forwarded on the study of subject Mathematics, Geography and Latin for India people. 'Gaudiya Byakaran' in Bengali was his best dedication for developement of Mother tounge. All over the world he was popular for his dedication in liberty, democracy and nationalism. Brahma Sabha was the great creation of Ram Mohan Roy in 1828. He was the first to give importance in women education.

Two newspaper named 'Miratul- Akhbar' in Pesi and 'Sambad Kaumudi in Bengali were the best work of Ram Mohan Roy. He was the hero for abolishing Sati Pratha in the society. The incredible social reformer Ram Mohan Roy had passed away on on September 27, 1833 at Stapleton.
