Diamond Harbour is located in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. It is present on the on the banks of the river Hooghly. It is a favourite picnic spot for the people of West Bengal. It is situated at a distance of 45km from Kolkata. By Road: Private and Government buses are available from Esplanade Bus terminus to Diamond Harbour. It takes 2 hours to reach Diamond Harbour.

Diamond harbor is a very beautiful place. It is an ideal picnic spot and people come here from different parts of the state. Especially on weekends this place is overcrowded. The nature has no doubt blessed this place with a lot of charm and beauty.
The major attraction of the place is Old Fort of Portuguese in Diamond Harbour. However this place is in very bad condition now. This was the place where pirates used to hide from the Portuguese enemies. Moreover there isalso a light powerhouse present here that is worth visting.
There are also a number of beautiful places present near the Diamond harbor as well. One of these is the Sagar Island that is very popular for the Kapil Muni temple. Ganga Sagar Mela held here in January also attracts a number of visitors and is of too much religious importance. There is also a town near the Diamond Harbour called Joynagar where 11th and 12th century manuscripts are present that are must to see.
