Tak Dal served with rice
Tak Dal is a common name in bengali households. It is mostly prepared during summer time. The inredients required are much less and they are easily available. It is served hot with rice specially during lunch time. Read this article to know how to prepare the delicious recipe.
Ingredients :
Arhar dal : 250 gms
Water : 4 cups
Gren mangoes : 3-4 medium sized
Turmeric : 1tsp
Kalo Jeera : 1/2 tsp
Green chillies : 2-4 pieces
Salt to taste
Sugar : 1tsp
Ghee : 1tsp
Method Of Preparation :
Wash the raw mangoes, peel the outer skin and cut the mangoes into 4-6 pieces lengthwise. Keep aside. Boil the water. Wash dal well and put into boiling water. Stir very well. Add turmeric and after stirring boil for nearly about 15-20 minutes. Add the green mangoes, green chillies and salt to taste. Continue cooking until the mangoes are soft. Be careul that they do not become mushy. Add sugar to taste. In a pan heat ghee and add kalo jeera. Cook and pour over the dal. Stir well. Bring to boil once and remove from fire. The dal tastes best when served at room temperature. Serve with steamed rice during hot summer afternoon.
Tak Dal is a very healthy dish which is consumed in the easten part of the country during summer period. Mangoes add to the tanginess of the dish and dal provides all the proteins required for a hard days work in summer time.
