Writings of Sri Aurobindo Gosh

The British took repressive measures to crush his growing resistance and falsely charged him with the crime of assaulting a British Magistrate. He was imprisoned for insolitary confinement at Alipore for the same cause. But this incident turned to be a blessing in disguise because it brought him such wonderful spiritual experiences. The Alipore cell was his Bodhi tree. All these years during his political activities he has had a constant search for realisation of his Brahman consciousness. Looking at the jail, its walls, and the seclusion brought the divine immanent soul of Krishna in everything around him. He was able to see god in everything and the experience was marvellous.later he was acquitted not found guilty. He wrote two weeklies ‘the karmayogin' in English and the ‘dharma' in Bengali. Suddenly one day when there was a commotion that the British were again trying to nail him down with false charges he heard an inner voice, the voice of his soul ordering him to leave to Pondicherry. He was transformed into a different plane away from politics and into complete spiritualism. He had a strong vision that India is sure to be freed, and that the ground for her triumph is already set. So it is now time to elevate her children to effectively use this freedom, which is possible only through self realisation. He set out to work towards this goal.

Spirituality and establishment of aurovile

The Aurobindo Ashram emerged along with his true collaborator the mother mirra from France. Until today the ashram is working for transforming darkness into light and to estabilish god's reign upon earth. The mother was at the back of establishment of the now called auroville, which is an international township made to unite people from different parts. It is a place which provides the men and women from different countries with peace. His speech on creation of the humans mainly involves only two activities and those are involution and evolution. He says that a man's life experiences various divisions and conflict even from his relationships. So to overcome these limitations he suggests three transformations that he calls as triple transformations. Those three transformations are psychic transformation, spiritual transformation, supramental transformation. His vision also encompasses the appearance of a new species, the supramental being which is a divine being that is superior to that of the humanity. He also made significant contributions in giving the real meanings of Vedas.

One of the important achievements of Sri Aurobindo was the introduction of the concept of evolution into vedantic thought. His works on the different Vedas like rig, yajur, Sama, atharva was originally published as a serial in the journal arya between 1941 and 1921 which was then published in the book called “The Secret Of veda". He wrote several books on inner yoga, like the poetic epic ‘savitri', 'The life divine', and ‘The synthesis of yoga'. His poetry titled The Future Poetry expresses what the art and the culture provides for the evolution of the mankind. On December 5, 1950 at the age of 78 he left his physical body. His body was kept in state for four days before given Samadhi on December 9. As the world moves forward on its destined way we find that Aurobindo's dreams are slowly but steadily turning into reality.
