Computer's memory


Memory is a space where all the data is recorded before and after the processing. It is one of the basic component of the computer system.

Types of memories


There are two types of memories-
Primary memory
Secondary memory


Primary memory


Primary memory is the internal memory of the computer system. Primary memory is further divided into two parts-
  • RAM(random access memory)
  • ROM(read only memory)

RAM is volatile memory where as ROM is nonvolatile memory.

Secondary memory


Secondary memory is the external memory of the computer system. It can be expanded depending on the desire of operation to be performed. Examples of Secondary Memory-

¤ DVD rom
¤ Pen derive
¤ Micro SD cards
