Details of Hanuman locked up in jail in Bihar

But this is what happened in Gundi village in Badhara block of Bhojpur district of Bihar. The incident trails back to June 1994, when smugglers stole the valuable and antique statues from a 175 years old temple in Gundi village. The smugglers were caught and the antiques were discovered. The recovered idols are now the property of the Police as per rule that the recovery of the stolen objects are kept in police custody till the claimant takes it.

The court anticipating the antique value of the idol made it mandatory for the claimant to furnish a bail bond of Rs. 42 lakhs in order to take the idol. The huge amount prevented all from claiming the idol and thus Hanuman had to wait in the lockup for 15 years. This idol is worth of Rs. 3 crores in the international market. It is not only Hanuman the Hindu God who is in the lockup but He is accompanied by other Hindu deity Vishnu, the God of water and the underworld.

"The long awaiting is over now," said the station officer of Krishnagarh Police Station, Mr. Deo Kumar. Former IPS officer Mr. Kishore Kunal has planned that he will be making arrangements for the God to bail out of the lockup. He being the Chairman of Bihar State Religious Trust Board along with Patna based Mahavir Temple Trust secretary has made a official announcement that they will be fulfilling the bond value and make the opening for Hanuman to come out of the lockup.
