How to Purchase and Sell Books

My last post was concerning the genre, thrill and validation of why books are so important. But how will you get engrossed in a book if you don't know what you're reading? Yes, I can feel some of you relating to that sentence. This post is all about how to select the right book and which book is plagiarized, and so on and so forth.

When purchasing books, inspect the book for a price label. It should be somewhere on the bottom right on the back of the book. If not, then be cautioned; as the bookseller might be selling it to you for a different price than its actual worth. Also, do not ever buy books that have torn covers and a separate book with a message 'DO NOT SELL WITHOUT OUTER BOX AND OTHER BOOKS IN SERIES'. Make sure that the book has a date on which it was published, an author, a copyright, a publisher, a location and background information and an image of an author.

When you own a book store, remember, no customer is the same. Try walking around and talking to different customers to find out how to please them and what genre they would most probably like. If you want to opt for another great technique, observe what books they pick up from a distance. That would tell you about their personality, book genre, etc. If they walk into your store, look around and ask if this is the car showroom and dissipate, then you an conclude they don't even like books! It is always great to be gentle yet firm. Do not allow customers to bargain. If they start arguing, tell them firmly yet normally that the price shall remain the same. Always, ALWAYS check for any tears, copyright signs and other common details that clever readers check for before buying a book. If you are straightforward and truthful, your customers will prefer to buy books for you. This works for all businesses. Lastly, if you will buy a stack of copies of one book or books from the same author, it is highly advisable to do thorough research on the book, author and age group targeted. With this little trick, you will always be on the safe side of business.

I know it sounds absurd, a 6th grader giving tips on the marketing world! But from 11 years of experience with my dad was enough for me to learn these simple things to sustain any business. Anyway, all the best for new book store owners! And purchasers as well! I hope this was helpful and everyone who read this gave a second glance and the book at the counter, in for purchase.
