The height of this Dibru-Saikhowa National Park over the mean sea level is about 118 m. Dibru-Saikhowa National Park of Assam is spread on an area about 350 sq Kms. This is one of the oldest National Park of Assam. This area was called as the Dibru Reserve Forest in the year 1890 and in the year 1920 some additional areas were also added to this Dibru Reserve Forest. The in the year 1929 the Dibru Reserve Forest was named as Saikhowa Reserve Forest and in the year 1933 some more areas were added with this Saikhowa Reserve Forest. And Finally in the year 1995 this Saikhowa Reserve Forest was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary and in the year 1999 this Wildlife Sanctuary was again declared as a National Park of Assam and named as Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.

This Dibru-Saikhowa National Park was built to conserve the White-winged wood duck which are very rare in this time. You can also see some other animals in this Dibru-Saikhowa National Park of Assam. Such animals are : wild horse, tiger, water buffalo, Capped Langur etc.
