Rohru formely was part of Bhushar reasat(state), when Himachal Pradesh comes into existance rohru was declared as seprate Teshil of district Shimla by the government of Himachal predesh.

2.Hatkoti:- at altitude of1,100m is very beautiful village on the banks of Pabber river 11km away from rohru. Sanctified with a no of temples, it derived its name from godess Hateshwari, who is belived to be the embodiment of loard Shiva.
3.Samala:- is 2km away from town famous for Indera Gandhi cricket stadium. indoor stadium is also under construction. also samla is known for housing board colony(HIMUDA COLONY).
4.chirgaon:- 15km northeast to rohru famous for trout fishing.
5.Giri_ganga:- the hike of giri ganga is a enjoyable through deodar forest. this is the source of giri ganga that rise just below the "Kuffar peak" this pours its water into the mightly Yaumna & is a shine at the spoat.
