Tamil Nadu recipe - Karuvadu thokku
It is a non-vegetarian dish so it has nothing for the vegetarian people. Very tasty recipe and love to eat along with rasam or plain dal. This karuvadu thokku is very easy to make in home. I used to make this recipe when I was bachelor dwelling in a common room along with my friends. Then we used to call this as 'bachelor dish karuvadu thokku'.
Materials required for making karuvadu thokku
50 gram Karuvadu (dry fish)
2 table spoon vegetable oil.
10 gram cleaned garlic.
1 piece onion small in size.
Curry leaves as required.
Salt to taste.
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder.
2 Nos chopped green chillies.
1 No fully ripened tomato.
Procedure for making karuvadu thokku
Take a small vessel and boil water around a glass of water.
Take a flat bottom vessel and put the karuvadu and pour the hot and boiled water over the karuvadu.
Wait for 2 minutes and then clean the dry fish by using a knife.
After cleaning make small pieces of using your fingers
Chop the onion, tomato, curry leaves, garlic and green chilly.
Take a vessel better a kadai.
Pour vegetable oil as mentioned above.
Heat the oil for few seconds or one minute.
Put the chopped onion and garlic after a few seconds add the karuvadu pieces fry well then put the chopped tomato add chopped green chilly and in the last curry leaves cook well for 5 minutes.
No need to add water because the water content present in the tomoto is sufficient for cooking the karuvadu however you can add small amount of water if required for best cooking.
Stir well using a spoon.
At the final step add turmeric powder and salt. After one minute take it off from the stove
Serve hot with rice & rasam or rice & plain dal.
This recipe will be a chakas and give a mouth watering taste.
