How to make Tamil recipe Sambha Wheat Vegetable Upma

Ingredients for making of Sambha Wheat Vegetable Upma

  1. Sambha Wheat - 1 Cup
  2. Onion - 1 No
  3. Tomato - 1 No [Medium Size]
  4. Green Chillies - 2 Nos
  5. Chopped Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  6. Chopped Garlic - 1/2 tsp
  7. Cut Vegetables - 1 Cup [Carrot,Beans,Peans]
  8. Sambhar Powder - 1 tsp
  9. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Salt - to taste
  11. Curry Leaves - As Required
  12. Oil - As Required
  13. Asafetida - 1/4 tsp
  14. Water - 2 cups
  15. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  16. Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  17. Red Chillies - 2 to 3

Steps in making of Sambha Wheat Vegetable Upma

  1. Roast the Sambha Wheat in Medium Flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Allow Sambha Wheat to cool.
  2. Heat the Oil in a Pan, Add Asafetida, Mustard and Cumin Seeds. When it Crackles, Add Curry Leaves, Green Chillies, Chopped Ginger Garlic and Onion. Saute till the Onion turns translucent. Add Tomato and allow it to cook until the skin is soft. Add Cut Vegeatables and fry for 2 to 3 minutes. Add Turmeric Powder and SAmbhar Powder and allow it to cook to 3/4th
  3. Heat the Oil in a Pressure Cooker, Add Asafetida , Mustard, Cumin Seeds and Red Chillies. Add 2 tumblers of water and cooked vegetables [done in Step 2]. When the water is boiling add Roasted Sambha Wheat and required quantity of salt
  4. Whiste the cooker for 2 sounds and sim it for 3 minutes.
  5. Wait until the steam goes off and now you can serve Sambha Wheat Vegetable Upma.

It has less fattening, less in sugars and very nutritious Breakfast. Rich in Fibers,Proteins and Iron too. Good for Diabetes Patients. It is also a Low Fat Diet, so people who waiting to cut down the weight can start having Sambha Wheat Vegetable upma atleast thrice a week. Even the Children and the Younger Ones likes this Sambha Wheat Vegetable Upma
