Have you recovered from the AIIMS forgery scam?
AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) is the top most medical college, situated in Ansari Nagar in New Delhi (South). Every year, they conduct entrance examination for admissions and this exam is considered to be at par with the IIT-JEE examinations. The recent forgery findings have shell shocked the medicine community!
AIIMS has consistently retained the top position among medical colleges in India. The features like excellent staff, research oriented teaching, ability to set its own curriculum, small sized classrooms and excellent library facility have all contributed to this success. The hospital in this college provides services at very cheap rates to poor people and is regarded as a centre of excellence. This is because of the quality standards it maintains.
Every year, they conduct entrance examinations for its admissions. In yesterday's news, there was a report that there was a big forgery in conducting this examinations for more than a decade!
This came into limelight, when the officials noted that the question banks released by one AIIMS entrance examination training institute had the exact questions which were at the previous year's question paper and that too in the same order. This triggered suspection and now they end up in finding this biggest scam in medicine history!
This training institute is said to be run by hi-tech MBA and MBBS professionals. Every year, they send people with smart phones attached to their hands, which are concealed by their coat sleeves. A specific scanning software is used to scan the entire question paper in good quality format and the scanned copy is sent to the institute. Many students from this institute, who paid money for getting the answers, were given special bluetooth receivers which were hidden in their shirt sleeves. A small bluetooth headphone goes into their ear. Once the scanned copy of the paper is received by the institute, the answers are dictated.
This act has been happening for more than a decade. AIIMS officials say "action will be taken against the guilty". So far 5 people are arrested in relation to this case and investigation is presently going on. The arrested people are top MBA and MBBS degree holders!!!
The institute charged upto 40 lakh rupees per candidate for this act!!!
The next time we look at a doctor, who graduated from AIIMS, we have to think twice before taking the treatment!
