The inauguration function of 35th Chennai book fair was held at 5pm on 5th January 2012. The function was inaugurated by T.Jeya kumar Tamil Nadu speaker and the welcome address was given by Dr. Padmasri Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty and Dr.G.K. Francis, Principal of AM Jain College and the function was ended up with a Vote of Thanks by Vairavan Secretary of BPASI. Several awards was also being honored to various personalities for their achievements.

The stall is being designed in such a way the visitors can move around freely and visit their required stall and exit any way. A total of 682 stalls are being installed which caters to different section of books like Education, Religious, Literary, Comics, Management, Biographic, Science Fictions, Astrology, Magazines and many more from different publications, authors and edition under various languages. The stall have been categorized and arranged in such a manner that it helps the visitors and book lovers to get into their required stall without any disturbance. The hall is being provided with air conditioned facility and with good lighting with display name of each book sellers in bold letters at front of their stall for easy identification of required preferred stalls. There are a total of 9 entrance with several emergency exists with an additional facility of a canteen located outside opposite to the stall.Aminjikarai Chennai book fair Entry fees
The Entry Fess is very minimal and they charge only Rs5/- for the visitors and children below 12yrs and school children are being admitted for free. In addition special steps and care have been taken for disabled peoples to have a look around different available stalls. Moreover several speeches, programs and competition are being conducted on daily basics.
