Early life and Education of APJ Abdul Kalam


Abdul Kalam was born in Rameshwaram of Tamilnadu on October 15. In his teen years, Kalam had encountered many economical problems and due to that Abdul used to do jobs like paper distribution to contribute to his parents income. In his teen years, he follows a strict routine–as his morning starts on 4:00am ; after that he take a brief review of his homework. He used to distribute papers along with his cousin Samsuddin Kalam in order to contribute economically in his father's income.

During his school years, he is referred as an normal student but he is one of those students who are believe in hardwork and have a strong desire to learn everything. He spent most of his time to study mathematics and his teachers appreciates him a lot for making great efforts in his studies.

After completing school, Kalam went to Saint Joseph which is in Tiruchirappali for further education and from there, he completed his degree. But wasting his degree, he went to Madras for learning Aerospace Engg. When A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was working on a senior class project, his dean came to see his work. After viewing Kalam's work, his dean was so disappointed that he asked him to complete his project within two days otherwise his scholarship would be revoked. He made continuous efforts to complete his project in those two days. Finally when he met the deadline, his dean was so impressed with his work and he said, "It was a test and under extreme stress, you made great efforts in such a short interval of time and finally completed that project"

Kalam's Career as an Scientist


In 1960, after finishing study from MIT, Abdul begin serving in DRDO as an Chief Scientist. He designed a tiny helicopter for helping Indian Army too. In the time of 1960's, Abdul served as an head in Indian Space Research Organization for Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV – III). According to him, his biggest achievement in life is joining ISRO, where he begin working on SLV project. Between 1970s to1990s, he made great efforts on SLV project which proves to be successful. Kalam worked as an Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister.

In 2003 and in 2006, he is nominated for the award of "MTV Youth Icon of the Year". In 2011, an hindi film "I Am Kalam" is made on him. Kalam is potrated as an positive influence to a boy named as "Chotu", who renames his name as " KALAM" later in order to give honour to his idol. From 40 Universities, he had received the award of "Honorary doctorates".
