Attack on Tamilnadu fishermen by Sri Lankans
Now a days, Sri Lankan Navy is making a habit to attack on the fishermen of Tamilnadu navigating from Rameshwaram. Now, it is seeming like a everyday episode. Near Internatinal Maritime boundary line, Tamilnadu fishermen were hitted by Sri Lankans. According to officials, some Sri Lankans threw stones on the boats of fishermen and this attack hurts about fifty of them. According to news, fishermen gave warning to the Sri Lankans not to enter in the boundary by flashing torches on them.
Tamilnadu Fishermen Association Secretary said that fishermen returned back without fishing.
As per Sri Lankan Navy, the fishermen from state Tamilnadu often Wander around the boundary of International Maritime and thus to stop them they are throwing stones, Sri Lankan Navy is the the first Navy whole over the world which is doing such kind of act.
According to a fishermen, Sahayam: Sri Lankan Navy members brings a bag full of stones in front of them and then opened that bag and at the last moment they starts throwing those stones on them. Adding this, he said Sri Lankan Navy is having guns with them too and if they hit them back, they will start firing. He said "at least, we are just hurt not dead".
The problem in the sea is one cannot clearly check whether he is within his own country's territory. Since the Srilankan Navy is continuing the attack on our poor fisherman our Government has to send our Indian Navy with our Fisherman. Normally a group of fishermen boats go into the sea. so for a particular number of boats a NAVY boat shall assist. This may reduce the risk of attack on our fishermen.
