50000 Dalit Children trafficked.Uneding story: Child labour cruelty

Cruelty of child labour in nothing unknown, the children at tender age who at an age to play and read, are denied these virtues, put to misery with no respite to relax and no set time to retire to bed. From morning six till late in night these children are subjected to heavy task with scars in the hand on strenuous work they undergo. A Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry revealed the plight of such cruelty at the state-level conference on child labour held in Madurai on Monday.

Tender Children as child labours:When the end comes?

Nearly 50,000 child labours from Tamil Nadu are suffering as bonded labours in Northern states, says Members of the Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Members of the Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL), Tamil Nadu and Puducherry disclosed at the campaign, that these children are subjected to heavy works cottage industries such "papad"(Appalam)manufacturing, small or medium sized confectionery factories, nibble units. There are agents to pick these children and engage them in these factories.

Agents for child trafficking

There are agents roaming in the Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry rural areas and entice their gullible parents will get an an advance of Rs.10,000, as make false promise that a child will fetch Rs.25,000 per month. Once the children become victim to their traps, their ordeal and untold miseries begin. These children are under the age group of 7-15.These activists' further detail that nearly 50,000 of them are trapped in northern states and they appeal to the government that they must be rescued losing no time.

A labour, Usilampatti Balamurugan who was trapped to work as bonded labour narrates his woes of orgy, working once in Agra at a candy factory, how he was humiliated. He said, "That there is space left in my body with no scars, bruises and I received regular thrashes and kicks from my employer for no fault of my own".

The story narrated by P.Joseph Victor Raj , of CACL and M Jeeva and B S Vanarajan southern districts organiser of CACL are not only disgusting, appalling but definitely not appealing that the child victims continue to be trapped and trafficked with no knowledge of their parents and they are abducted and are found in the rampant ravaging illicit act of child trafficking to far far away distances to Northern States, chiefly from southern states, and more dolefully these are the children from "Dalits" and downtrodden sectors ranging from 60 to 70 per cent. The organising NGOs claim that around that the "the government had no follow-up programme for child labours rescued from their employees"

The Child Labour crusader and organizer of Southern region informed that the Child Labour Act of 1986 must be withdrawn and Right to Compulsory Education should be enacted soon. He further cited that 44 children who have been rescued must get the government certificate as rescued and salvaged to get the benefits of the government.

The problem of child labour has been in discussions and laws are made but the menace continues as a big threat to the nation "a socioeconomic problem inextricably linked to poverty'.

Save children from hazardous industries

Sivakasi, a town in southern Tamil Nadu (kutty Japan) has several hazardous industries such fire crackers and safety match industries, which caters the need of crackers and match boxes almost to the Indian market at season like Deepavali and other occasions. Crackers are seen in all the celebration whether marriage, political victory or a Hindu funeral. Sivakasi has seen many fire accident not only ravaging the such industries and also killing the children who were engaged as child labours. Authorities must have a stringent law enforced against the violators.

Implementation of quality education through RTE in right way: A best answer to the Nation

We have seen 1st April 2012 marking the second year completion of the RTE Act in India. The outcome of this law has appreciation and the criticisms. To eliminate child labour, all the specified schools by Central Ministry of Education must come forward to the poor children admitted and the parents only have look forward to their future. The quality education is only best of the education offered to them will be an answer to the progress to the nation.

Let us wait and see what times tells the story the scheme undergoes proper implementation or comes under the attack of the vested interests!!
