Recipe of Bengali Ilish Macher Paturi


Ilish macher Paturi is a dish of Ilish Mach or Hilsha Fish cooked in Banana Leaf. It is one of the traditional Bengali Food.

For 4-8 Person

Ingredients



Ilish (Hilsha): 8 pieces
Mustard (paste): 5 spoons
Turmeric Powder: 2 small spoons
Red Chilli Powder: 1 small spoon
Green Chillies: 6-8 piece (each around 6 inch square)
Banana leaf: 8 pieces
Mustard Oil: 100 gram
Salt: 2-3 small spoons


Preparation



1. Clean the banana leaf with warm water and then make it dry. Keep it aside.
2. First mixed turmeric powder, red chilli powder with mustard paste in a bowl and add fish into this paste. Pour some mustard oil and salt and marinade it for 10 minutes.
3. Then add green chillies into it and again mixed it well. Don't break the fish.
4. Now brush some oil in each banana leaf. In each leaf, add each fish along with paste use during marinating,
5. Cover the fish totally with the leaf and then tie the leaf with thread or tooth-pick stick so that leaf does not open out.
6. Now put these fishes covered in banana leaf, in a round steel or aluminum tiffin box and cover it.
7. Take some water in a pressure-cooker and put that tiffin box into it. Cover the pressure-cooker and boiled the fish for 10-15 minutes.
8. Take out the tiffin box. Allow it to cool. Take out each fish tied in banana leaf and untie the banana leaf.
Along with banana leaf, serve the fish with hot rice.
