Ingredients required for Chingri Macher Kalia


10 Chingri Pieces-Medium Sizes
2 Potatoes-Medium Sizes
1 Onion (Finely Chopped)
1 Tomato-Big Size (Finely Chopped)
1 Bay Leaf
2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic paste
1 tablespoon Chilli Powder
½ tablespoon Garam Masala Powder
Salt according to taste
2 Cups Oil

Method of Preparation of Chingri Macher Kalia


Wash the medium sized chingris properly.
Rub a pinch of turmeric and salt to them and keep them aside for 20 mins.
Cut the potatoes into small pieces.
Now heat oil in a frying pan.
Fry those potato pieces in the oil and keep them aside.
In the same oil fry those chingri pieces and fry them until they turn lightly brown.
After frying keep them aside.
In the same oil fry the bay leaf.
Now add the chopped onion and fry it until it turns light brown.
Now add the ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and red chilli powder to it and sauté for 2-3 mins.
All these cooking must be done in medium flame.
Now add the chopped tomatoes to them and sauté.
Fry all these ingredients until the oil separates the masala.
Now add 1 cup of water to them.
Add the fried potatoes to them and stir properly.
Add the salt according to taste.
Cook properly for 4-5 mins properly.
Now gently release those Chingris to this gravy mixture.
Cook for another 5-7 mins with cover.
When it comes to boil add a pinch of garam masala to them.
Remove from heat and serve hot with rice or pulao.
