History of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib
The Gurdwara Takht Sri Damdama Sahib is the holy place where the Sikh Scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib was compiled in full version by Tenth Guru of Sikhism. 
Guru Gobind Sing Ji in the year 1705. After fighting the battles against Mughals at Anandpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh stayed here at 'Damdama' which means a place to have a break which is located at 'Talwandi Sabo' a village which is 28kms southeast of Bathinda. He stayed here for nine months and nine days. Damdama Sahib is also known as 'Guru Ki Kashi' where 'Kashi' means holiest of shrines and a learning centre, as Guru Gobind Singh engaged in many literary activities here and spread Sikh faith and called it 'Kalsa De Takht'.
Guru Granth Sahib is sometimes called as 'Damdama Wali Bir' was compiled here by Guru Gobind Singh which was transcribed by Bhai Mani Singh and the 'Bani' - the sacred word of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib were added to the Bir by Guru Gobind Singh. Gurudwara Damdama Sahib is also the headquarters of Nihangs. The gurdwara was given the recognition as takht on November 18, 1966 by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and during the tercentennial celebration of the advent of Khalsa, it was declared as fifth takht by the government of India in April 1999. The present building of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib was constructed under the supervision of Sant Seva Sing of Sri Kesgarh during 1970's. At the time of Baisakhi Festival a grand affair is held at Damdama Sahib where Sikh pilgrims from all over the world congregates here and large number of people gather here to seek the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh.Rare Historical Items at Sri Damdama Sahib
