Once, Indrakeela a Shaakteya devotee worshipped Jaganmata for a long time. When Goddess appeared, he requested her to stay with him so that he will be able to worship daily. But Goddess told him that he will become a hill in the next birth and she will appear as Maha Lakshmi on him. This is one story.

Story of Kanaka Durga and Arjuna

Before starting this story, let me ask you a question. Who is Arjuna? I know majority of you know the fact that Arjuna is one of the pancha pandavas. During Aranyavasa, Arjuna went to Indrakeeladri and started doing tapasya for lord Indra. The lord was pleased with penance of Arjuna and he appeared before Arjuna and gave him Shiva mantra. But Indra told Arjuna that he should also get the deadliest weapon named paashupataastra from Lord Shiva for his future needs. Hearing this, Arjuna started tapasya for Shiva. But after some days a wild pig came to his area of tapasya and started destroying it. So Arjuna started hunting the pig. After several attempts, Arjuna succeeded in hunting this pig.

At that time a tribal king came to that pig to take away to his home. Arjuna and the tribal king started quarrelling on the ownership of the pig. They started throwing arrows on each other. Arjuna couldn't defeat the tribal king even though he had divyastras with him. At last frustrated Arjuna took his bow and beat the head of the tribe with it. Suddenly what happened is the tribe disappeared and Lord Shiva appeared in that place. Arjuna who felt very sad for this prayed Shiva a lot. Lord Shiva who was pleased by the devotion of Arjuna gave him the paashupataastra and remembered him to use it only in very rare occasions. He said that a real hero should never get frustrations and also advised Arjuna to control his mind so that a weapon can be used only for the benefit of the world.
