About the city
The Kanpur city is situated on the river bank of Ganga. Kanpur is well known for its industrial sector. It is believed that the city was founded by king Hindu Singh. The Kanpur city covers the area of about 3005 sq km with the approx. population of 41,37,489 (2001 census). The city is placed at 126 metres above the sea level. Kanpur was one of the most important military stations for the Britishers. On 24 March 1803, the Kanpur was declared as a district in Uttar Pradesh. Many wars of independence were taken on this place. Nana Sahib, Tantiya Tope, Azimoollah Khan and Brigadier Jwala Prasad were the popular freedom fighters belong to this land.

1)Jajmau - In the ancient times, Jajmau was popularly known as Siddhapuri. It is a very popular tourism place in Kanpur to visit. It is believed that it was built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1358.
